BATTLE IN THE HEART OF 1066 COUNTRY
There’s plenty to do & see in the locality – Battle Abbey, which was built by William the Conqueror to atone for the bloodshed of the "Battle of Hastings" in 1066, dominates the high street in the historic village of Battle. There are many traditional English pubs and restaurants to choose from, catering for many varied tastes, plus a great selection of boutiques and gift shops.
In and around the Battle area you find a plethora of ancient castles, art galleries and museums not to mention the seaside towns of Rye, Bexhill on Sea, Eastbourne, Brighton, Hastings & St. Leonards all very close by. If you fancy a quick shopping trip on the continent you can catch the Eurostar Shuttle service at Ashford International Station which is just a 45 minute drive away.
